  1. Whose car do you use?                                                                                                                        Our training vehicle is state certified and  equipped with dual controls on the passenger side.

  2. How many hours is each lesson?                                                                                                     Usually one and one half hours per lesson.

  3. How do we schedule “in-car driving lessons”?                                                                            Upon registering we will ask questions about your schedule and make every attempt to match a teacher with you.
  4. Do I have to obtain a permit to have lessons?                                                                              Georgia requires all drivers to have a class CP license (learner’s license) in order to drive a car.

  5. How long is the wait time for drives?                                                                                               Every effort is made to schedule lessons within a week of registration

  6. What do I need to bring to my first drive?                                                                                      Bring your permit.  Wear comfortable clothing, no sandals or flip-flops.

  7. What is included in the driving lessons?                                                                                           The driving part of the course is scheduled by appointment and is done in our dual controlled cars. This is an individual one on one instruction. We teach parallel parking, three point turn around, lane control, speed control and extensive highway instruction.

  8. Do I get a certificate?                                                                                                                                   A certificate is not required for adult drivers but can be provided if requested.  Teen students are required to have a certificate to get their license at age 16.

  9. Can I take the Driver’s Ed class and driving lessons at the same time?                                   Yes, but we prefer to wait until after the classroom lessons are complete so you will have a good knowledge of driving techniques.

  10. Do I need Behind the Wheel instruction from a professional to get my license?                    No. You may get your Class D license with just the 40 hours of supervised driving when done in accordance of the Parent/Teen Driving Guide (as provided by the Georgia DDS). However, many students and parents prefer to take lessons from a professional driving instructor to ensure safe driving habits from the very beginning. Since our training vehicle is equipped with dual controls on the passenger side, our instructor can avoid most accidents that may occur with new drivers. Without these dual controls, many parents find teaching a teen to drive to be a very stressful experience. Starting off with a professional is safer, and much less stressful for both parent and student.

  11. Should I take more than 6 hours of Behind the Wheel instruction?                                             Six hours of instruction may not be enough for every student. Since the instructors at DOCO Driving School are trained to teach beginning drivers, some parents may want their teens to have additional professional lessons before taking over the training on their own. Of course, this is completely up to the individual student and parent. After completing six hours, students may sign up for additional lessons at $50 per hour (2 hour minimum lesson) for as many lessons as desired.

  12. Are there financial benefits for taking the “30 and 6” driving course?                                          Yes. Most insurance companies offer substantial discounts to teens and young adults who successfully complete the “30 and 6” driving course. Additionally, parents or guardians are eligible for a $150 tax credit when a dependent minor completes the “30 and 6” course through a private driver training school, such as DOCO Driving School. This discount is not available to students who take driving lessons in public schools. Contact your insurance company for details.
